Denali Universal Services (DUS) Lead Instructor: BP Whiting Refinery in Whiting, Indiana

JOB SUMMARY
With limited supervision, the Lead Instructor is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and conducting training classes at the BP Whiting Refinery facility. Responsible for the Instructors, the Lead ensures efficient and effective training operations are established and maintained in accordance with client and contract procedures.
The Lead Instructor will report to the Operations Manager for all site training and operation procedures with a dotted line to the Administrative Office Manager for company administrative, clerical, and payroll related activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent
2 years related work experience
1 year of lead or supervisory experience
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to teach and train others
Strong customer service skills
Ability to lead with professionalism, respect and integrity at all times
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Must have reliable transportation to/from the work site. Valid driver’s license preferred.
As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Participates in the planning, development, implementation, and support of training/operational activities.
Critical thinking and active learning: Ability to quickly gain a broad understanding of company/division operations, organizational procedures, and personnel.
Utilize clear and appropriate communication skills while providing information to others.
Coordinate and/or conduct training, including on-the-job training, for the workforce in accordance with the requirements of the contract and other applicable guidelines.
Serve as Instructor Rep: Responsible for all interactions with the BP client/personnel.
Create/maintain PowerPoints and site documents with any changes for legal purposes.
Participate in regular safety and committee meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
Maintain and issue applicable training handouts.
Prepare the room for trainees/instructors.
Order site inventory.
Responsible for creating and maintaining trainee files and records.
Conduct New Hire Orientation Safety Center Training (To include Safety Center Crew PTW, Isolation, and Hazard Awareness Identification).
Deliver refresher, CBT, and management trainings.
Instruct specialty a la carte sessions.
Works safely and complies with all company/client safety and risk management policies and procedures.
Willingness to be trained and able to fill-in, on occasion, at select classes in the absence of the regularly scheduled instructor.
Willingness to perform other duties as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than 20 pounds. Candidate will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical.
