This NPI PROJECT ENGINEER - QUALITY position will be located in Howmet Whitehall Casting and will play an important role in the qualification of New Product Introductions castings, assuring the quality of product produced and conformance to the applicable customer and internal specifications. This position will work as part of a team with Program Managers and Engineering in the development and qualification of new or improved products.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position is responsible for meeting quality requirements from purchase order to ship of parts. Tasks, as required, are performed to warrant the processing of parts to customers’ purchase orders, specifications and engineering drawings. Product Quality Engineer will have a technical understanding of engineering drawings and will have the ability to manage suppliers and/or quality projects related projects

  • This position will lead the APQP process for NPI products.

  • Process Certification - Defines and implements control plans and FMEA per customer requirements; Collects, analyzes and prepares statistical data per control plan.

  • Develops and implements quality control procedures and standards for NPI projects (inspection, testing and evaluation).

  • Periodic Qualification and Re-qualification - Prepares L/O and MRB forms; Provides additional support data to customer; Develops VSE/ESA requirements.

  • Create and maintain documentation for quality assurance procedures and reports.

  • Work with the engineering team to improve product reliability and performance.

  • Involved in procedures that ensure that critical and complex aerospace components meet all customer specifications and blueprint requirements.

  • Improves process performance through corrective action process and other initiatives.

  • External customer escapes - Investigates and analyzes root cause and develops and implements correction action plans.

  • Quality Audits - Formulates, performs and validates quality system and part audits.

  • Quote Prep - Reviews BOM and routing and review specs and B/P.

  • Process Development - Writes work instructions.

  • Part Shipment - Obtain certification as a customer release agent as required.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers to resolve quality-related issues.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution.

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem solving.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety.

  • Have good organizational skills.

  • ​Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • 2+ years experience in the investment casting industry.

  • Experience with inspection, testing, validation, and certification processes.

  • Strong understanding quality assurance methodologies.

  • APQP experience.

  • Experience in new process control development and product start-ups.

  • Project management experience.

  • Good verbal communication skills.

  • Proven problem-solving skills using sound fundamentals

  • Ability to effectively work/communicate as part of a project team.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and activities.
