Actalent Resident Engineer in White Plains, New York

We are seeking a Resident Engineer with 8-10 years of experience in Resident Engineering to join our Water Division as part of our construction management team for Wick’s law construction projects within the Hudson Valley (City of Newburgh Area). As a Resident Engineer, you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities, and general building projects to successfully execute and manage programs under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Executive. This role offers an opportunity to help build and grow our practice in the area.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day construction oversight/Resident Engineering efforts on multiple municipal contracts.

  • Manage inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients’ requirements.

  • Act as liaison to design staff for response to Contractor RFIs and review of shop drawings.

  • Provide technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality.

  • Provide oversight for project document management including all project record keeping, general correspondence, logs, compiling, drafting finalizing required reports and deliverables, red-line as-built drawings, and contract close-out documents.

  • Monitor contractor compliance with its Health and Safety Program/Plan, CM Team site safety compliance, monitoring of permit compliance tasks, and coordination with Regulatory Agencies and City Departments.

  • Monitor overall contractor performance, quality of work, adherence to the project schedule, responsiveness to directives, and effectiveness in completing the work.

  • Maintain a positive influence over contractors to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc.

  • Manage the contractor payment process, recommend appropriate adjustments as necessary, and maintain all payment records.

  • Manage the special inspection process, including scheduling, inspection record keeping, and re-inspections as necessary.

  • Use effective oral and written communication skills to effectively lead progress, safety, scheduling, coordination, and other contract administration meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

  • Supervise subconsultant staff for completion of required tasks, personnel scheduling, timesheet approval, and completion of daily sign-in/sign-out logs.

  • Supervise staff as necessary, including development of Professional Development plans, tracking career progress, mentoring, advocating for, and approving timesheets and training/development requests.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Essential Skills

  • 8-10 years’ experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer or Resident Engineer for Water or Wastewater Treatment Process Wick’s law projects greater than $10M.

  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to manage personnel and remain responsive to corporate requirements.

  • 10-Hour OSHA Training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 10-15 years’ experience as a Resident Engineer for Water or Wastewater Treatment Process Wick’s law projects greater than $25M.

  • Professional Engineer - New York (active) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Certification.

  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations.

  • Proficiency with Primavera and/or MS Project.

  • 30-Hour OSHA Training.

  • Experience with NYC DEP projects, water/wastewater expertise.

  • Degrees in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.

Work Environment

The work environment includes on-site duties with working hours from Monday to Friday, with potential odd shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The role offers overtime on an hourly basis. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00
