This position primarily involves a hybrid work schedule - working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Group Membership Association Division (GMAD) is looking for a highly self-motivated senior level Project Manager to help lead our Project Management projects within our PMO Portfolio. In this role, the Project Manager will work closely with multi-discipline stakeholders and senior leadership to drive the planning and execution of projects to support GMAD’s strategic goals. The project manager will play a key role in fostering a productive team environment and partnering with both internal and external sponsors. The ideal candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills along with proficiency in MS office suite products (including MS Project, Visio and SharePoint). They will work with business and technology teams to provide guidance on PM best practices promoting effectiveness and transparency. Must have experience with both waterfall and agile methodologies. Additional responsibilities include presentation skills and must be comfortable with presenting status to senior leaders and other executives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the Project Management team and the Project Management Portfolio.

  • Mentor and guide direct report(s) on overall project portfolio to ensure success as well as provide assistance in resolving critical conflicts and risks.

  • Lead executive level communication materials to drive the decision-making process among project sponsors and other senior executives within the company, vendor partners, and clients.

  • Own development and ongoing maintenance of project plans and other project management documents, meeting with stakeholders and project delivery resources to gather requirements, resource needs, and provide input on solution design.

  • Establish and enforce project delivery governance processes, communications plans, and cadence, including collection of regular project status reports for management and key stakeholders.

  • Develop and utilize appropriate project management tools (e.g., software packages, MS Office tools & templates, Visio for workflows and SharePoint) and where applicable drive methodology definition and adoption of Agile delivery approaches.

  • Oversee task execution and dependencies keeping the “big picture” in mind during meetings and discussions, particularly if there are scope and/or resource adjustments.

  • Manage the details of a project to ensure that all action items are accomplished timely and accurately within NYL standards while looking for opportunities to continuously improve project management processes and test new approaches.

  • Ensure that projects run smoothly on schedule, proactively identifying risk/issues and appropriately escalating concerns and potential solutions to impacted parties.

  • Participate actively in department process improvement initiatives, gather data, document and understand business process issues, bring cross-functional teams together to work collaboratively towards a sustainable solution.

  • Keep invested parties and stakeholders focused on key outcomes that contribute to achieving Group Memberships strategic goals.

  • Manage and maintain GMAD’s Intranet site.

  • Provide guidance and/or participate in GMAD’s continuous process improvement opportunities.

  • Assist senior leadership in collating key takeaways during GMAD’s yearly strategy sessions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree (business related).

  • A minimum of 10years experience in Project Management (Insurance/Finance industry preferred).

  • Strong executive presence and experience with presenting to an audience of cross-functional stakeholders within the company.

  • Ability to establish priorities, confirm/communicate decisions, work on and manage multiple projects, and adhere to deadlines.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships and work effectively both independently, and as a collaborative team player.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can adapt communication depending on the audience.

  • Superior organization skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to build reports and presentations with appropriate details for varying audiences.

  • Work effectively in a team environment, motivate and lead teams towards a common project goal.

  • Ability to understand the corporate and business area culture/dynamics and pro-actively/quickly adapt to them.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well across organizations and with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong, polished, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) skills. Presents ideas to effectively interact with management and a diverse set of business and technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to lead teams in a results-oriented and collaborative manner.

  • PMP, Agile/Scrum master certification is not required, but desirable.

  • Innovative thinker who is self-motivated to complete projects and tasks on time while proactively looking for opportunities to continuously improve processes and share learnings.

  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and demonstrated ability to work with limited direction and some autonomy.
