HSE programs will be well implemented and meet the relevant standards and regulations in the Plant. That means you will ensure that facilities provided are well maintained, regulation/procedure are in place and implemented, hazards/aspects assessments are conducted, the accident both caused by unsafe acts and conditions are reduced and energy and waste are driven down.
How you will contribute
• Responsible for leading HSE programs and processes with a primary focus on ensuring Mondelez HSE technical, engineering, and process standards are complied with.
• Provides HSE expertise for the pilot plant for all new projects and change management activities.
• Ensures coordination of risk assessment process to ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted, reviewed, and follow-up actions implemented.
• Implements HSE corrective and preventative actions where required. Follows up on non-conformances and develops the systems to resolve them based on root cause analysis.
• Under the direction of the Corporate HSE Management, reviewing, maintaining, and improving the site HSE Management System with conformance to Mondelez Global Standards.
• Conducts health, safety, and environmental training, as directed and according to legal compliance.
• Monitors utility Wastewater treatment (WWT) system for effluent compliance.
• Creates, maintains, and executes Whippany Site Mondelez Compliance Calendar with NA HSE and Legal guidance.
Maintains the following:
Incident reporting system, leading with investigating incidents in conjunction with the HSE Pillar team/safety committee, and driving the completion of corrective actions to eliminate root causes/reoccurrence.
Site Environmental Programs, Permits, and MEMS (Monthly Environmental Maintenance) files.
Monthly HSE metrics via Enablon for safety and environmental communication and HSE Pillar boards.
Safety equipment inventory and recommends new PPE (as required).
Safety Data Sheets (SDS) database in line with new processes and activities.
• Leads HSE site committee and participates in the MERT and Spill Response Teams.
• Understands relevant technical requirements in HSE areas and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Carry out relevant HSE training and coaching to embed HSE as a value and ensure HSE standards and awareness are well understood.
• Ensures that contractors comply with site standards and operate safely in line with Mondelez expectations.
• Leads HSE compliance CAPEX projects.
• Lead the HSE cultural transformation from the site residents and customers, e.g., leading by example (raising safety concerns), coaching unsafe behaviors, etc.
• Understand the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position.
• Engage and collaborate with teams (Quality, Engineering, Operations) on-site to develop an interdependent safety culture.
• Lead process safety and engineering safety assessment for new equipment; influencing in the design stage and correcting in the implementation stage.
• Own the safety of the re-assessment process of existing equipment and lead teams to execute re-assessments.
• Provide monthly updates to LT on HSE performance and any calls for action.

What you need to know about this position:
• Role model behaviors that provide a consistent visible leadership for HSE.
• To provide regular information/reports and communications to colleagues and senior management.
• To be able to engage a variety of stakeholders to gain agreement including MDLZ Corporate HSE managers on the appropriate initiatives.
• Actively participate within the Corporate HSE community, assisting with the continuous improvement across all aspects of HSE.
• Independently plan and manage your workload.
• Lead the monthly HSE meetings, sharing HSE issues and best practices with the HSE representatives from each Tech Center to improve knowledge and awareness.
What extra ingredients you will bring:
• Advanced knowledge of OSHA and environmental government legislature and codes - (OSHA, NFPA, DEP, EPA, ANSI) with a focus on personal safety and process safety.
• Ability to understand ISO certification requirements and programs that achieve and maintain documentation compliance.
• Demonstrating the following competencies: strong change management skills, time management, project management, problem-solving, decision making, self-starter, high energy, and excellent communication leadership skills. Ability to create partnerships, decision-making, teamwork, and culture ambassador. Appropriate auditing experience in HSE systems. Create a motivational environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels.
Education / Certifications:
Bachelor’s (4-year) degree. Health/Safety/Environmental Science/Engineering. ASP/CSP Certification preferred.
Job specific requirements:
5-7 years experience working in a manufacturing environment, Research and Development with 3+ years in HSE. CPG or Food Industry Preferred.
Travel requirements:
Travel up <5% local.
Work schedule:
Onsite role based in Whippany, NJ.
