SGI Global, LLC Senior Financial Investigator in Clarksburg, West Virginia

SGI Global is seeking a Senior Financial Investigator to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) - Northern District of West Virginia. The Senior Financial Investigator will assist with reviewing and analyzing financial records.

The USAO regularly investigates, litigates, and prosecutes matters involving data and financial information. These matters include civil and criminal health care fraud, grant fraud, Government contracting fraud, investment fraud, and other forms of white-collar crime. These investigations and cases often require an employee to review bank records, health care claims data, audit reports, and other materials of a financial nature. Current investigative support through the USAO's partner law enforcement agencies does not consistently provide the necessary expertise or analysis. A Senior Financial Analyst/Investigator is necessary for the USAO to pursue these types of cases.

Job Duties

  • Assisting prosecutors in reviewing and analyzing financial records obtained during investigation and is proficient in the use of FinCen and Suspicious Activity Reports, to determine the source and flow of funds, the nature and volume of transactions conducted, and the interplay conducted, and the interplay among related accounts.

  • Utilizing various databases in order to determine the source of assets and demonstrates the ability to testify about the source and flow of assets, the nature and volume of transactions conducted, and interplay among related accounts.

  • Tracing proceeds, identifying assets and funds, and helping to develop legal theories for cases

  • Assisting prosecutors with the financial component of the preparation for hearings, court proceedings, and depositions; assists prosecutors in preparation for sentencing hearings to determine loss calculations as defined by the United States Sentencing Guidelines (USSG). Assisting prosecutors in the determination of restitution calculations utilizing financial records and analysis

  • Assisting prosecutors in the presentation of evidence during hearings, trials, and other court proceedings and testifying concerning the financial evidence in the case.

    Q ualifications:

  • Four-year undergraduate degree in accounting or finance; a CPA certification is desirable.

  • Seven years of accounting, finance, or other related investigative experience.

  • Proficiency in using a spreadsheet and word processing software.

  • Ability to consistently deliver the highest quality work under extreme pressure.

  • Ability to pass a background investigation.
