Job Title: Renewable Assets Electric Engineer/Specialist II
Job Summary
The Renewable Assets Electrical Engineer/Specialist II will lead, develop, and oversee operational requirements for current and future renewable energy projects. This role also plays a key part in the engineering and construction of ongoing renewable builds.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements by overseeing installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, and testing activities.
Conduct detailed reviews and updates of renewable processes and procedures.
Review and manage all electrical drawings and documentation within the data repository.
Attend educational workshops and professional societies to maintain technical knowledge.
Transfer and organize as-built documentation for operations teams.
Monitor construction progress through remote and on-site inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
Resolve field issues in collaboration with construction contractors and utility partners.
Navigate and analyze data within SCADA systems.
Ensure equipment adherence to manufacturer’s instructions and maintain a validated product data repository.
Travel required: 10-20%.
Required Qualifications for Position
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
Detail-oriented with a high standard for accuracy.
Project coordination skills involving multiple stakeholders.
Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of electrical standards and codes.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility to adapt to a newly defined role.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications for Position
2+ years’ experience within field of renewable assets (solar and wind).
Project management and process improvement experience.
Job Title: Renewable Assets Electric Engineer/Specialist III
Job Summary
As an Electrical Engineer/Specialist III, you will lead and oversee the operational requirements for renewable energy projects, focusing on electrical engineering aspects. The role includes active participation in the engineering and construction process for renewable project builds.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
All duties of Electrical Engineer/Specialist II, plus:
Act as department interface for IT/OT teams and metering/substation functions, facilitating integration for new assets.
Lead compliance initiatives for NERC/FERC requirements.
Evaluate and verify all renewable processes, procedures, and electrical drawings.
Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, developers, and site staff to define business needs.
Evaluate and implement upgrades for new renewable acquisitions.
Represent NIPSCO in owner and interconnection requirements discussions.
Lead the collaboration with EPRI and other industry experts to ensure alignment with industry standards.
Required Qualifications for Position
All Required Qualifications of an Engineer/Specialist II, plus
3-5 years of Renewable Energy/Generation Experience
Experience in IT/OT integration and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications for Position
- Project management and process improvement experience.
Job Title: Senior Renewable Assets Electric Engineer/Specialist
Job Summary
As the Senior Electrical Engineer/Specialist, you will guide, supervise, and lead the operational requirements of renewable projects. This role encompasses participation in engineering, construction, and quality control processes across renewable project builds.
Essential Functions
All duties of Electrical Engineer/Specialist III, plus:
Mentor and guide engineering teams on technical matters.
Make technical decisions and define the scope for third-party engineering work.
Lead supplier quality audits and on-site manufacturing inspections.
Oversee factory acceptance testing and guide the technical due diligence process.
Collaborate with industry experts to align with current standards and trends.
Required Qualifications for Position
6+ years of experience in electric generation.
Extensive project coordination experience across diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office.
Expertise in Electric Standards and Codes
Expertise in Renewable Energy/Generation
Preferred Qualifications for Position
- Expertise in project management, IT/OT integration, or process improvement.
The successful candidate will be selected for the Renewable Assets Engineer/Specialist II, Renewable Assets Engineer/Specialist III, or Senior Renewable Assets Engineer/Specialist based on their experience, qualifications and education.
