Director, IT Bus Sys, Atlanta, GA

The opportunity:

The Director, IT Bus Sys will be in a strategic leadership role to influence business strategy to enable technology for Global Consumer Operations. The candidate will provide leadership over the regional team, ensuring consistency and effective execution from direct and shared functions of digital and IT organizations. The leader will implement governance and strategic framework to ensure effective utilization of IT and digital resources enabling the outcome required to advance business strategies. The candidate will partner with regional and corporate executives in the consumer business. The Director will ensure the successful completion of key milestones, identify and resolve project impediments, and address project risk. The role will ensure effective communication with all key stakeholders on the execution status the plan, issues/risks, and mitigation plans. The Director will Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Business Leaders and other leaders across the IT organization.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Lead teams and stakeholders at corporate and regional business leader's levels to identify technology roadmap that drives business strategy, advance financial goals, and provide material improvements in user and customers’ experience

  • Lead teams and stakeholders at corporate and regional business leader's levels to ensure IT SLAs and service delivery is met, providing improvements in user and customers’ experience

  • Collaborate with other teams within Consumer IT and across IT Centers of Excellence and other shared service functions to enable and deliver a roadmap with the optimal technology solution

  • Create a culture of value-driven delivery, directly tied to the strategic roadmap, and supported by strong governance to ensure resources are deployed with a focus on strategic priorities

  • Lead by shaping, coaching, and influencing to define the right opportunities, scope, and qualified stakeholders to ensure business engagement and accountability for a complete roadmap

  • Work with IT Shared Service functions to provide an early forecast, allocate capacity and budget and ensure required solutions are enabled and delivered in time, quality, and budget.

  • Set and manage the financial budget, allocations, timeline, and resource assignments required to support roadmap and sustain operations. Report variances in a timely and accurate manner to senior management or other appropriate parties.

  • Drive continuous improvements in processes and systems that lead to improvements in quality of transactional, reporting, and analytical data, leading to fewer errors, lower costs, and better decision making

  • Provide leadership in assessing the effectiveness of current state processes and designing and documenting the future state

  • Work with divisional and corporate process owners to ensure processes are consistent across regions and compliant with overall company objectives.

  • Monitor process performance and system utilization across the region and take improvement actions to identify the need

  • Lead business/technical change activities with other regional/functional teams.

  • Lead efforts in communications, coaching, and training of business resources throughout the plants, business units, region, and functional groups.

  • Implements communication plans to ensure those required to be informed for projects and governance model are informed and updated

  • Leverage Enterprise Program Management Office (ePMO) resources and uses project management methodologies and tools to successfully deliver projects

  • Manage project lifecycles, including project scope, resources, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building, and deployment for projects from beginning to end, engaging with appropriate elements of the IT Shared Service organization as needed

What you need to succeed:

  • BS/BA; Technical Degree and MBA Preferred

  • 10+ relevant years of business experience with progressive growth in leadership and business impact in IT building relationships and partnering directly with IT and Business stakeholders

  • Working knowledge of systems and processes of converting plants

  • Identified as having a high potential for growth who will benefit from this career developing experience

  • Effective communicator, strong prioritization with execution focus, able to direct multiple teams to align and support parallel project deliverables

  • Passionate and demonstrates ability to drive continuous improvement innovation and develop talent

  • Enables and empowers, follows up to ensure high-quality execution

  • Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to operate in a rapidly changing environment

  • Have sound analytical skills and the ability/willingness to make critical decisions in a timely manner

  • Driven with a sense of urgency to achieve results

  • Clear and effective communicator at all levels
