Eversource Energy 2025 Summer Substation and Transmission Engineering Data Innovation Intern in Westwood, Massachusetts

The Engineering intern/coop would gain a great understanding of the utility business, engineering teams, and data analytics in utility environment. The Intern/Coop would be responsible for:

  • Collecting, cleaning, standardizing, and analyzing data from various internal and external sources (e.g. images, SQL databases, Excel files, flat files, APIs, etc.)
  • Creating data visualizations that effectively communicate trends and patterns as well as support conclusions through in-depth graphs, charts, tables, etc.
  • Contributing to data discovery and data innovation and helping build analytic tools for substation asset health monitoring.
  • Investigating state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms and models and comparing them from the perspectives of applications and strengths.
  • Using communication skills to translate data analysis findings into coherent written and verbal presentation and project documentation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Graduate program in Engineering.
  • Hands-on experiences/course projects in at least one of the following areas: statistical modeling (Python, R, or SAS), data visualization (PowerBI or Plotly Dash), computer vision, and machine learning.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as R, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Highly motivated to work independently and productively, with an aptitude to learn quickly
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively participate on a team and in remote meetings and conference calls
