As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will join the team to advance the future of Mako SmartRobotics™, a comprehensive robotic-arm assisted surgical solution. You will drive the research, design, and development of innovative product solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate across teams, mentor talent, and align technical strategies with business objectives to achieve impactful results. This role is hybrid, working 3 days per week in the office, at our Weston, FL office.
What you will do
Lead technical team members in research, design, development, modification and evaluation of modules, assemblies, or subsystems.
Apply advanced engineering principles to develop innovative solutions and assess new technologies through prototyping and testing.
Translate user needs into design specifications, creating system-level layouts and platform designs.
Oversee product design transfers and ensure seamless integration across various interdependent systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, Project Management) to achieve project success.
Serve as a divisional expert in medical device compliance, advising on standards, regulations, and engineering documentation.
Strategize and manage customer-focused activities to inform technical strategies and align with clinical needs.
Mentor team members, promote collaboration, and develop procedures that enhance performance and innovation.
What you need
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, BioMedical or related discipline
Minimum 8 years of work experience
Preferred:
Experience in SolidWorks, Creo Modeling, and Simulation
Ansys FEA experience
Minitab Statistical Software experience
MATLAB experience
Experience in implementing design methodologies such as DFM, Reliability, Systems Design
Experience in medical device design (or designing in a highly regulated industry) and ability to utilize Solid Modeling and CAE tools to optimize the design.
