Electrical Staff Engineer, EV Charging Westwood Professional Services, Inc. Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Staff Engineer to support our Electrical Engineering Team. The position is for an electrical engineer to support interconnection and design of EV charging facilities and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Facilities, which includes: BESS sites layout, EV charger site layout, selecting and sizing appropriate distribution/collection equipment and conductors, and determining interconnection requirements. As an Electrical Staff Engineer the individual will coordinate with the Project Lead, and Senior Engineers, to maintain firm standards and consistency as well as oversee interns, electrical designers, and drafters on the project. This position can be based in our Denver, Minneapolis, Madison, or Fort Worth offices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support electrical engineering portions of EV Charging Facilities and Energy Storage Projects
- Review utility service/interconnection requirements for various utilities and assemble technical portions of service/interconnect applications for clients.
- Coordinate with other project disciplines including civil engineers, geotechnical/structural engineers, and surveyors
- Perform electrical engineering design and creation of construction documents for projects
- Responsible for performing electrical calculations and studies such as short circuit, load flow calculations and voltage drop.
- Maintain awareness of currently available equipment and industry best practices
- Collaborate with and support electrical engineering teams in other offices as projects and workload sharing between offices dictates.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering Program
- Knowledge of NEC requirements
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of an electrical power system modeling program(s)
Required Experience
- Approximately 2 - 6 years of experience in the design of electrical distribution, generation, and or general electrical construction
- Working knowledge and ability to read and create service/interconnection application packages, construction drawings and specification packages
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Professional appearance with excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to write detailed technical reports with minimal oversite
- Must have a strong work ethic along with a positive attitude
- Must be a supportive team member, able to work in a collaborative environment
- Must be self-motivated with an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability to use AutoCAD in at least a limited capacity
Preferred Experience
- Experience and knowledge of overall design and construction of renewable power projects
- Experience with EV Chargers
- Experience in lighting design and photometrics analysis using AGI32 or Visual Lighting
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Electrical PE License or ability to be licensed in the future
- Experience with energy storage systems (battery, flywheel, or capacitor)
- Experience with ETAP, CYMCAP, WinIGS, and/or DigSilent PowerFactory to model electrical power systems and perform load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, grounding, thermal, and protective device coordination studies an
- Experience with Homer Grid/Pro modeling software
- Experience with microgrid design, back-up reciprocating generator system design, or data center design
- Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, EMTP, or similar software and performing transient/dynamic modeling and studies or power systems

USD $80,000.00/Yr.
