Job Description
We are seeking experienced Electrical Designers in the Oil and Gas industry to contribute to various utility projects. Ideal candidates will have proficiency in both 2D and 3D designing/drafting for power systems and control systems design. You will work on diverse projects for local gas utilities as well as Southern CA Edison.
Responsibilities
Develop electrical layouts, single line diagrams, power distribution systems, lighting plans, and control circuits using AVEVA software.
Work with other disciplines like instrumentation, mechanical, and civil engineers to coordinate design elements and ensure project integration.
Support an Electrical & Control Systems Design Lead on large and complex projects.
Perform site visits to gather field data and verify existing facilities and project requirements.
Use software tools to perform design calculations such as cable tray sizing, conduit sizing, duct bank sizing, voltage drops, etc.
Develop construction drawings and material requirements.
Prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects with various due dates.
Attend coordination and status meetings.
Develop and maintain good professional relationships with team members and clients.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in industrial electrical and/or control system design (10-15+ years preferred).
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.
Knowledge of electrical systems in the oil and gas/power generation industry, including routing conduit, cable tray, conduit fill, cable/conduit schedule, etc.
Experience with power systems design and control systems design.
Familiarity with NEC and API 500 is preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Energy infrastructure experience is preferred.
Engineering consulting experience is preferred.
Desire and ability to learn new skills and assume greater responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position requires working onsite five days a week. For candidates living 30 miles or more from the office, there may be flexibility to work four days in the office and one day from home after establishing themselves. Typically, you will spend 2-4 hours per week on project management and the rest on technical work. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $62.00/hr.
