Corewell Health Clinical Therapist -School Based Health in Westland, Michigan

FULL TIME-DAYS

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The School Based Clinic-Clinical Social Worker is a licensed mental health provider who supports students and families by providing psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and long and short-term therapeutic interventions. The clinician collaborates with members of an interdisciplinary team to assist patients and families with complex psychosocial needs. Corewell School Based Health Clinics and Expanding, Enhancing Emotional Health Programs are located on school grounds. Corewell’s Teen Health Center-Taylor is a school linked program which is free-standing. Staff members work closely with school administration to provide interventions to students during the school day. These interventions may include, but are not exclusive to clinical therapy, crisis intervention, group therapy, and psychoeducation groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Conducts psychosocial assessments, diagnosis, screening, and treatment planning with patients and or families. Utilizes evidence-based treatment modalities to provide short- and long-term psychotherapy to students and families. Uses CBT and/or other therapeutic modalities to help clients develop skills or insights to meet their identified goals. Monitor the effectiveness of treatment and the clients' progress in meeting their goals and objectives and modify/update treatment plans as needed. Completes all documentation in the electronic medical record, accurately reflecting the patient’s current condition, situational factors, and psychosocial imperatives and supporting billing and ethical guidelines. Refers and educates patients/families regarding community resources and provides follow-up. Engages in clinical and professional consultation and supervision. Supports performance improvement initiatives based on patient satisfaction and quality outcomes. Demonstrates responsibility for own professional growth and development. Facilitates evidenced based curriculum, group therapy, and crisis interventions. Responsible for tracking and entering data for grant reports and following all grant requirements.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Training:

  • Graduate from an accredited university or collage with a master’s degree in social work or clinical counseling.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum or 2 years master’s prepared experience with youth in clinical therapy and crisis intervention preferred.

Certification, Licensure, Registration:

  • State of Michigan Social Work License (LMSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Other Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development and dynamics of behavior for age related groups. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and ability to adapt to technical demands of electronic communication. Ability to work independently but contribute positively to team performance. Ability to manage, prioritize multiple situations and tasks while remaining calm. Must demonstrate willingness to be flexible and cope with multiple job stressors.
