A Typical Day
The VP of Mortgage Finance Due Diligence is responsible for monitoring and assessing the due diligence findings on whole loan pools being sold to various institutional lenders and securitizations, ensuring timely delivery of due diligence findings from third party review vendors, and working with internal business units to mitigate the level of loan production and quality issues in order to minimize due diligence exceptions and achieve acceptable execution levels.
The VP of Mortgage Finance Due Diligence will:
Oversee the due diligence process for whole loan sales and securitizations
Correspond with the investors and third party review vendors to ensure that due diligence findings are delivered timely and at regular intervals throughout the diligence process
Review third-party due diligence reports and compile reports for Capital Markets management and Trading related to the due diligence findings and trends
Identify and analyze loan quality or production issues or trends associated with the loan pools, including credit, compliance, operational and collateral valuation and work with internal business units to remediate
Monitor the rebuttal process related to outstanding due diligence findings to ensure prompt resolution
Liaison between PennyMac’s fulfillment group and the investor and/or third party review vendor to escalate and resolve any disagreements in the due diligence findings
Work closely with Mortgage Finance team members to facilitate the settlement of the whole loan sales transactions
Stay abreast of loan underwriting program changes, regulatory changes and industry best practices
What You’ll Bring
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience: 5+ years of experience in mortgage lending, with a strong background in underwriting, due diligence, credit risk analysis, and portfolio management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of underwriting, mortgage lending regulations and industry best practices
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Compensation: Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience as defined below:
Lower in range - Building skills and experience in the role
Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role
Higher in range - Experience and skills add value above typical requirements of the role
Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
