Job Description: The Junior Network Administrator is responsible for assisting the rest of the Networking team with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the organization's network infrastructure. This role involves working closely with senior IT staff to ensure the seamless operation of networks, systems, and services. This role will participate in an on call rotation with the other team members and may be called upon to work outside of normal business hours. The Junior Network Administrator will provide support in network monitoring, maintenance of network security, network configuration, and responding to technical issues related to hardware, software, and networking. Key Responsibilities: Network Maintenance & Support: Assist in the day-to-day management and troubleshooting of the organization's network systems. Support the installation, configuration, and monitoring of network devices including, but not limited to, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Monitor network performance and report issues such as slow performance, downtime, or connectivity issues. Technical Support: Provide first-line technical support to end-users and other staff members for network-related issues, including connectivity and hardware problems. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues under the guidance of senior network administrators. Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, issues, and resolutions. Security: In collaboration with the Security team, assist with network security tasks including managing firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures to protect the organization's data and infrastructure. Support the implementation of network security policies and protocols to prevent unauthorized access and mitigate security risks. Configuration & Installation: Help with the installation and setup of networking hardware and software as required. Completing new job site setup requests: including working with the Project team to select the best available ISP in the area and to meeting the project timeframe. Assist with network upgrades and improvements by applying patches and updates to ensure optimal performance and security. Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor network activity to ensure it is running efficiently. Assist in the generation of periodic reports on network performance, uptime, and security incidents. Assist with network inventory management, including tracking hardware, software, and licenses. Documentation & Procedures: Maintain documentation of network configurations, issues, resolutions, and changes. Contribute to the creation of network troubleshooting procedures and best practices. Skills & Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience. Experience: Some experience (0-2 years) in network administration, IT support, or related roles. Familiarity with networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, VPNs, SNMP, and firewalls.
