EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to empowering and supporting 62,888 individuals through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a compassionate and motivated Peer Mentor to join our Nassau Family Treatment Court Expansion Program.

Position:Full-Time Peer MentorLocation:Westbury, NYSchedule:Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PMCompensation:$25 - $30 per hourReports To:Supervising Case Manager

As a Peer Mentor, you'll be an essential part of our team, providing peer support, advocacy, and linkage services to individuals navigating their recovery journey. Your lived experience will be invaluable in guiding others seeking to overcome substance use challenges. You’ll work closely with clients and our team to deliver culturally responsive and supportive recovery services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Peer Support:Offer one-on-one support to individuals and families in the Nassau Family Treatment Court program, helping them connect with necessary services and maintain their recovery.

  • Advocacy & Linkage:Utilize your personal experience to inspire and assist clients in achieving their recovery and wellness goals, whether through in-person visits, community outreach, or telehealth services.

  • Goal Achievement:Collaborate with program staff to implement treatment goals, monitor progress using program assessment tools, and provide referrals for additional support and services.

  • Education & Resources:Provide essential harm reduction education and resources such as Narcan kits and Fentanyl/Xylazine strips.

  • Documentation & Training:Maintain accurate client records, participate in team meetings, and engage in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Community Impact:Support efforts to reduce stigma and educate the community about mental health and substance use issues.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education:High School Diploma or equivalent. NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or CRPA – Provisional preferred.

  • Experience:Personal experience with substance use recovery and a solid understanding of the criminal justice system.

  • Skills:Strong written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to navigate electronic health records (EHR). Knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and the recovery process is crucial.

  • Driver’s License:Valid NYS Driver’s License and willingness to transport clients. Proof of valid NYS car insurance, Defensive Driving Certificate, and vehicle registration required within 30 days of hire.

  • Diversity:Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including various ethnicities, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic statuses.
