Aero Structures Long Island, Inc. - Westbury, NY is a build to print manufacturer of machined airframe components for the commercial and military aircraft industry.We are seeking a skilled CMM Programmer/Operator to join our team, responsible for conducting quality inspections operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality inspection, mechanical knowledge, and proficiency in CATIA ensuring compliance with industry standards. Position Summary:The CMM Programmer/Operator is responsible for developing and maintain accurate inspection software programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to inspect aircraft parts per customer engineering, using PC-DMIS. The role involves interpreting blueprints, using metrology software, and ensuring that parts and components meet quality and engineering specifications. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of a CMM to support manufacturing in-process first piece, internal inspection points, and customer required first article inspections. Provide technical support for machining operations to ensure part quality. The CMM Operator will also be responsible for documenting inspection results and working closely with other departments to resolve quality issues.Responsibilities:•Operate CMM Equipment: Set up and operate CMMs to perform inspections on a variety of parts and components according to engineering drawings and specifications. •Programming: Develops, writes, revises, troubleshoots and improves CMM programs using metrology software PC- DMIS to automate inspection processes. •Inspection and Measurement: Perform dimensional inspections on first articles, in-process parts and final products using the CMM and other precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).•Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and customer specifications to determine measurement requirements. •Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to resolve quality issues and improves processes. Communicate with Engineering of any issues with work instructions or inspection methods. •Documentation: Prepare detailed inspection reports, including measurement data and any deviations from specifications. Document product acceptance / rejection on the manufacturing traveler. Prepare and coordinate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for non-conforming parts. Maintain accurate records of inspections and equipment calibration. •Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and AS9100 standards. •Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications:Education and/or Experience:•High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical school certification preferred and a minimum of three (3) years in quality assurance inspection experience required. Two (2) year’s experience with CMM Programming is required.•Certification in CMM Programming/Operator training preferred. •Experience programming using PC-DMIS software is required. •Experienced in dimensional inspection of aerospace machined parts and components.•Aerospace/Manufacturing Experience (3 to 5 years preferred)Qualifications:•Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5 with demonstrated experience developing, implementing and troubleshooting alternate inspection methods required. •Demonstrated ability to use standard manual inspection tools (surface plate & height gage; vernier calipers & micrometers; plug gages; thread gages etc.) •Experience performing First Article Inspection (FAI) reports - AS9102 •Working knowledge of the AS9100 Quality Standard required. •Blueprint interpretation •Knowledge of CATIA•Working knowledge of Aerospace products & production / assembly processes. •Strong independent decision-making skills. •Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills•Proficient skills in MS office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Excel basic skills required•Flexible and adaptable to meeting the evolving needs of a high-growth and fast paced organization•Due to our company's position as a key supplier to the US defense industry, All candidates must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States.What We Can Offer:Aero Structures Long Island’s provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment which encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other factors.The above pay range represents a general guideline; however, Aero Structures Long Island considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skill sets, current market conditions and other business and organizational needs.
