This internship requires that all applicants be full-time residents of Maine or attend a college or university in Maine.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OCS DEPARTMENT
The Outpatient and Community Services (OCS) department at Spurwink provides hands-on support in therapeutic environments to individuals with behavioral health needs, including mental illness, substance use disorder, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. In addition to providing treatment, the OCS team manages referrals, provides translation services and crisis intervention, and conducts client satisfaction surveys and follow-ups.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Intern, you will assist the Outpatient and Community Services team with the diverse work of their department. This internship will support the administrative division of the OCS department. There will be no patient interactions with this internship . Spurwink is fully committed to DEI&B (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging).
REQUIREMENTS :
This hybrid internship start date will be the first week of January 2025 and conclude at the end of February.
We will work around your schedule to meet the required hours of this internship. (8 to 15 hours/per week)
Ability to commute to the Greater Portland area during the first full week of January.
Must have an interest in working in administrative support for social services.
Experience with Microsoft 365.
Create a capstone project sharing educational goals, skills learned, and your experiences.
Attend a weekly online meeting with a supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Candidates must exhibit enthusiasm for the work and an interest in learning about both the department and Spurwink Services. Must have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and critical thinking skills.
