Intermountain Health Security Training and Standards Program Manager in West Valley City, Utah

Job Description:

The Training and Standards Program Manager Develops, implements, maintains and evaluates standards and training for armed contingency program.

Essential duties

  • The Training and Standards Program Manager manages and oversees the armed security officer program, the K9 program, applicable personnel, and the day to day operations of applicable personnel.

  • Teach firearm safety principles, including the proper handling, storage, and maintenance of firearms to ensure the safety of all participants.

  • Design and implement shooting drills and exercises that cater to the skill levels of various students.

  • Evaluate students’ performance and provide constructive feedback to improve their shooting accuracy, speed, and safety practices.

  • Develop and enforce range safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a secure environment for shooting activities.

  • Coordinate the scheduling of classes and private sessions, managing time efficiently to accommodate the needs of a diverse team.

  • Facilitate annual firearms qualifications and ongoing training in scenarios, cover/concealment, shooting and moving and malfunction.

  • Facilitate discussions on the legal and ethical aspects of lethal force, including self-defense laws and responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in law enforcement or a security-related field.

  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of criminal activities.

  • Demonstrated report writing ability and public relations skills.

  • Meets Intermountain Driver Qualification requirements.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated problem solver and critical thinker dedicated to continuous improvement.

  • Prior experience in a consulting position.

  • Able to collaborate and also lead with decision making.

  • Demonstrated sound time management skills

  • Proficient in creating, implementing, and evaluating training programs to ensure they meet the objectives of the organization.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear and effective delivery of training materials and instructions.

  • Sound knowledge of training methodologies and competency-based learning.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess training needs, evaluate training outcomes, and make necessary adjustments to improve effectiveness.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners using strong interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using e-learning platforms and other training tools and technologies.

  • Highly organized with strong project management skills to oversee multiple training initiatives concurrently.

  • Patience and a customer-focused approach for dealing with diverse learners, addressing their concerns, and providing effective solutions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members, departments, and stakeholders in the organization.

  • Experience in designing training materials and curricula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.

  • Clear understanding of safety principles, emergency response practices, and Environment of Care.

  • Working knowledge of chemicals in a health care setting.

  • Taser training.

  • Leadership experience in law enforcement or a security-related field.

  • Understands and is able to demonstrate/teach de-escalation techniques.

Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information and alarms particularly in emergency situations.

Operate computers, telephones, office equipment, and manipulate paper requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.

See and read computer monitors and documents.

Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to retrieve and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and to ascend and descend stairs or uneven surface in order to access areas in need of security services. Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$37.98 - $58.61
