OrePac Building Products Maintenance Technician in West Valley City, Utah

POSITION: Maintenance Technician

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm; overtime as required

PAY: $28.00 per hour, D.O.E + quarterly/annual discretionary bonuses based on company/branch performance

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to be responsible for the daily maintenance of the equipment, building and grounds, mobile equipment, and other functions as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or General Manager (GM). Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated and organized individual who prioritizes safety.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Ensure all equipment is in safe operating condition and available for production so that the branch can consistently meet and satisfy customer needs.

  • Conduct all timely PM (preventative maintenance/predictive maintenance) tasks, including but not limited to, logging and documenting associated activities for future reference and tracking.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to working safely and following OSHA guidelines related to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), forklift operation, machine guarding, and all other applicable laws and regulations.

  • Maintain building and grounds in a safe and clean condition for our employees, guests, and customers.

  • Manage mobile and material handling asset maintenance/repair (forklifts, combi lifts, standup lifts, pallet jacks, etc.) through vendors or other appropriate means.

  • Provide CapEx and ongoing recommendations for equipment upgrades, replacement, and/or modifications.

  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager and/or GM on various contract renewals in order to keep equipment and facility operational and kept up to current standards

  • Assist the Operations Manager with:

  • Accurate, timely, and effective use of company provided maintenance tracking software.

  • Collection of data related to equipment downtime, causes, repair costs, spare parts lists, etc.

  • Installation of new equipment in coordination with corporate resources and external vendors.

  • Support CI/Op-Ex processes, improvements, and other related functions as needed.

  • Proactively conduct equipment inspections and safety audits per branch policy and/or as outlined in company best practices.

  • Participate in all JHA/JSA reviews, revisions, and improvements.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Certification or degree from an accredited trade school or three or more years of related experience performing maintenance operations in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with maintenance scheduling and tracking software (preferred but not required)

  • OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 class certification (preferred but not required)

  • Ability to occasionally lift/move/manipulate up to 75 pounds

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, equipment manuals, drawings/plans, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions; ability to troubleshoot equipment electrical systems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write routine reports, track maintenance metrics as required, and communicate effectively with peers, superiors, vendors, and other individuals/groups both inside and outside the company

  • Knowledge of PLC’s, pneumatics, and hydraulics

  • Skilled at safely and properly using a broad range of power and hand tools

  • Attention to detail with strong organizational and planning skills

  • Able to effectively prioritize competing tasks and resources

  • Strong basic math skills, including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, calculating percentages, common fractions, and decimals
