VAN DRIVER Provide transportation to the older adult and disabled population by assisting passengers on and off the van. Position requires opening doors and offering physical assistance to any passenger who needs it (i.e. wheel chairs and walkers). Assist with bundles and/or packages (as appropriate). Observe changes in habits and behavior of regular passengers and report changes to the Director. Clerical duties include managing rides in the MySeniorCenter database and reporting MassDOT reports. Adheres to wearing a seat belt at all times when in the COA Van. Responsible for oversight and accountability of vehicle logs, mileage, vehicle fares, vehicle reports and scheduling routine maintenance. Schedules routine daily vehicle checks (including but limited to: tires, gas, oil, battery, water, directional signals, seat belts. Reports deficiencies/problems with vehicles to the Director in a timely manner. Maintains cleanliness of the vehicle at all times. Locks and secures vehicle at the end of the day. Clerical duties include managing rides in the MySeniorCenter database and reporting MassDOT reports. Other clerical duties as assigned. Adheres to scheduled runs/routes. Maintains a professional relationship with passengers, staff and vendors. Responsible for performing any other duties as assigned by the Director. Responsible for assisting the Director with additional duties in the Center. CPR/AED and MARTAP training course completion as required by the State. Satisfactory completion of CORI investigation. Qualifications Education and Experience: Prior passenger van driving experience preferred along with experience with the older adult population. Good computer skills are essential as well as excellent customer service skills. Special Requirements: Valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle License with good driving record Knowledge, Abilities and Skill Knowledge: Common policies, practices and procedures of the department and office operations; laws and regulations pertinent to position functions. Abilities: Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with the public and other department personnel; ability to be courteous and sensitive to the needs of older adults and disabled individuals; ability to perform multiple tasks in a detailed and organized manner. Ability to lift 40 pounds. Skills: Good driving skills & techniques.
