Specific Responsibilities

This is a Storekeeper I position in the Florida Department of Health, Palm Beach County Health Department. Responsible to work receiving, recording, storing, and issuing material, equipment and supplies in a large store operation, consisting of all office medical, dental and paper goods, as well as technical supplies used in the daily operation. Work is performed under the supervision of the Government Operations Consultant III-SES. Ensures all merchandise are safe and secure. This position requires independent judgment, initiative, applying general knowledge of business practices and skill in applying instructions to accomplish various job functions. This position must follow all policies, procedures and guidelines regarding health and safety issues and strictly adheres to the agency safe driving mandates.

This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain confidential information in accordance with Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Palm Beach County Health Department (CHD) Information Security Policy, Protocols and Procedures.

Oversees the shipping receiving storing, issuing and transferring all medical, laboratory, dental, office, maintenance and scientific supplies and equipment. Receives and records, then unpacks, stores and issues a variety of supply items. Check all incoming materials for quantity and quality against invoice, packing slips and purchase orders and reports all discrepancies immediately. Completes all associated receiving reports and forwards same to the office of Finance and Accounting. This position will conduct countywide training and provide technical assistance to the Inventory Supply System as needed.

Responsible for matters pertaining to the day-to-day warehouse operation, to insure sufficient secure storage of all supplies, dangerous materials, files and records, surplus equipment. Assign courier routes, coordinate inventories, takes the lead on SCU/SNC deliveries during emergencies.

Manage a written schedule to ensure all vehicles and heavy equipment receive routine preventive care and maintenance.

Emergency Preparedness (EP):

Participate in all Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) exercises and assist CRI/EP staff with supplies

Strategic National Stockpiling Training

Assist with the Inventory of all Emergency Preparedness equipment

Assist with the inspection and maintenance of the Western Shelter Tent System trailers

Specialty Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which must be inspected daily and kept under Air Conditioning

Participate in additional EP/FEMA training regarding all PPE, and proper usage.

Required to inspect and fill our safety inspection for warehouse

Performed other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

  • Knowledge and the ability to save, file, and retrieve documents and files.

  • Ability to work in an un-air conditioned warehouse, hot in summer (85+) and cold in winter

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting, lift 50lbs and carry a 30lb load up a ladder or stairs.

  • Ability to bend and stoop to manage warehouse stock and bulk mail in bins.

  • Ability to operate trucks, vans, cars, pallet jacks and forklift.

  • Must possess intermediate to advanced proficiently in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook Mail and other specific software.

  • Ability to read, speak and understand English to the degree necessary for comprehension of the terms, conditions, and daily responsibilities of employment.

  • Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Become certified to operate county vehicles and maintain certification to operate county vehicles.

  • Pass forklift operator’s certification.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and carry 30lb load up a ladder or stairs.
