The primary responsibility of the Director of Operations is to provide visible, on-site leadership in their location. The Director of Operations works closely with Physician, Nursing, Service Line, Support Services and Revenue Cycle leaders to monitor, evaluate and improve provider and employee engagement, service excellence, clinical quality, environment of care and financial performance within their location. Responsible for supporting the local execution of practice-wide improvement strategies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide visible, supportive leadership for Providers, Staff and Patients

  • Makes frequent (at minimum daily) rounds throughout the building while monitoring work flow, identifying and resolving barriers to employee engagement, patient care and access

  • Attends and participates in medical home and specialty department meetings

  • Encourages staff and provider participation in daily huddles to review the patients scheduled and ensure the needs of the patients are met

  • Serves as a role model for staff, maintains a positive attitude, and demonstrates professionalism in behavior, dress, attendance, punctuality and customer service

  • Adheres to standards of professionalism set by the Practice

  • Takes initiative to keep informed of new/revised Policy and Procedures, Standards of Care and incorporates these into practice

  • Improve Provider and Employee Engagement

  • Takes an active role in the recruitment of new providers. Conducts tours, and represents Crystal Run in a positive, enthusiastic and supportive manner

  • Acts as the on-site liaison with all new providers. Check in with them frequently, and helps them on-board successfully to Crystal Run. Assists them in any way possible, and establishes a supportive relationship where the Providers view the DOO as their first-line ‘go-to’

  • Welcomes and assists with orientation and on-boarding of new staff. Communicates any issues or concerns with supervisors

  • Maintains excellent working relationships and open communication with Providers, Staff, Patients, Families and other members of the Practice and community

  • Organizes and actively participates in activities to create a fun and inclusive working environment for staff and providers

  • Interacts on a daily basis with Physicians, patients, and interdepartmental staff

  • Maintains site-specific email groups to facilitate communication

  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills in dealing with complex issues

  • Demonstrates good judgment in escalating difficult situations to appropriate Management personnel

  • Improve Clinical Quality

  • Assists clinical teams in exceeding patient specific quality measures

  • Collaborates with Physicians on standards of care for specialty area

  • Initiates and participates in practice performance improvement activities

  • Assure compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Actively participates in Infection Control and Environment of Care rounds. Coordinates the building response to any deficiencies identified

  • If possible, become a Notary Public to assist in compliant documentation processes

  • Assists Service Line Leaders in preparing for regulatory surveys

  • Identifies potential compliance issues and report findings to the appropriate leaders

  • Works closely with facilities, housekeeping and bio-medical departments to maintain a clean, safe environment

  • Promote Service Excellence

  • Assists with investigation and resolution of patient complaints, submits reports to Customer Service representative

  • Handles difficult situations and people with tact, professionalism and H.E.A.R.T.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in service excellence and works with providers and staff to make improvements as needed

  • Maximize Financial Performance

  • Identifies, monitors, evaluates and improves operational issues pertaining to Physician schedules and workflow

  • Work with SL leaders to develop and implement efficient and effective provider schedules, increasing patient access where possible

  • Assist in meeting revenue cycle goals

  • Identify potential opportunities to reduce expenses and work with departmental leaders to minimize waste and promote efficiency

  • Represent Crystal Run in the local community

  • Network with local business community agencies/ events and to work with the in-house Marketing and Public Relations Department to promote and maintain the CRHC brand in the community

  • Acts as a liaison to community leaders

  • Act as a liaison with educational institutions to facilitate and encourage student rotations

  • Assist with coordination of, and attend community events promoting Crystal Run Healthcare and/or its Providers

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience, in a multi-specialty practice setting

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role

  • Demonstrated proficient computer skills (EMR, Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Proven exceptional communication skills and demonstrate ability to handle difficult situations with staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a multi-specialty practice setting

New York Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
