Job Description

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated professional to join the Capital Projects - Construction Department team. The successful candidate will lead project team members from within the Construction Subdivision in the completion of construction projects from the initial scoping of the project until completion of physical construction. The Construction Project Manager has overall responsibility for managing projects and/or programs with multiple integrated tasks including defining, planning, and ensuring execution of necessary tasks to meet project/program objectives.  Additional responsibilities include creating, maintaining, or actively participating in the project team infrastructure, coordination of necessary resources to staff and support the project/programs, defining project scope and work breakdown structure, provide cost estimates and resource loaded schedules, developing and evaluating change requests, managing overall costs versus budget, and interfacing with and integrating the efforts of stakeholders, support personnel and line management to ensure project success.  Bettis Construction is a Matrix type organization and the successful PM would be assigned the necessary engineers and support staff to complete the project team makeup.  The Project Manager is responsible for overall communications and work efforts by each individual within their team and ensuring they are getting the most out of the team. Frequent interaction with Bettis Senior Management, Naval Reactors Local Field Office (NRLFO), and Naval Reactors (NR) regarding project status is required. Scope of Responsibilities: The Construction Project Manager would be responsible for the following responsibilities: Leading and guiding the project team, encouraging cooperation, communication, and quality of the project deliverables. Effectively communicate with NRLFO, NR, and senior management on project status and any issues that may arise on the project. Originate new ideas to support Laboratory changes in functional requirements, improvements, and/ or cost savings initiatives. Effective teaming with support organizations such as: Operations and Maintenance personnel, Environmental Safety and Health, Radiological, Waste, Security, and IT functions as necessary to support the overall project. Making decisions about the path of the project to ensure deliverables are on time and within budget as well as performing change management when problems arise to communicate effectively.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

Candidate should have experience in managing multiple projects and project planning. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and teaming abilities, and demonstrated process improvement abilities. Candidate must also have demonstrated leadership ability Good, demonstrated writing and communication skills. Pay Range $83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guide line only.
