Hawthorn Academy Secondary CTE Teacher in WEST JORDAN, Utah
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Secondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses, including Digital Literacy, Exploring Computer Science, Python Programming, and Introduction to Robotics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in technology and education, with a passion for inspiring students to develop their technical skills and prepare for future careers in the STEM fields.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans that meet state and national standards for Digital Literacy, Exploring Computer Science, Python, and Robotics.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Develop and update course materials, including disclosures, proficiency scales, assignments, and assessments.
2. Classroom Management:
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
Manage classroom dynamics effectively to promote student engagement and minimize disruptions.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
Assess student performance through a variety of methods, including projects, quizzes, and practical applications.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
Technology Integration:
- Integrate current technology tools and resources into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
Stay current with emerging technologies and incorporate them into lesson plans as appropriate.
- Career Guidance:
Guide students in exploring career opportunities related to technology and computer science.
Facilitate connections with industry partners, guest speakers, and field trips to provide real-world insights into the technology field.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Collaborate with fellow educators, administrators, and community partners to enhance CTE program offerings.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in CTE education and technology.
- Compliance and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
Ensure compliance with school policies, state regulations, and CTE guidelines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; - Valid teaching certification in Career and Technical Education or related area (as required by state).
Strong knowledge and experience in digital literacy, computer science principles, Python programming, and robotics.
Previous teaching experience in a secondary school setting is highly desirable.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their potential in technology-related fields.
