General Summary Statement

Assist the Director of Surgical Services Department with the organization and administration of Procedural Business and Support areas. Oversees daily management of patient scheduling into the Procedural schedule, and maintaining Physician Block time management of direct reports, productivity, financial reconciliation, payroll, operations budgets, software systems, quality and compliance. Responsibilities also include collaboration between the cardiovascular department and Surgical Services. Also oversees management of vendor representative and Inventory control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Management Responsibilities

  1. Mentors and provide leadership to all Support Services Staff .

  2. Review status of Surgical Services daily at planning Huddle.

  3. Review status of operations including patient flow, inventory management .

  4. Provide guidance for the daily patient throughput.

  5. Monitors Inventory Management and manages the equipment recalls and alerts

  6. Oversees the schedules for staff .

  7. Provides guidance and oversight for the Vendor Representatives in the Surgical procedures.

  8. Provide support to the Department of Surgery offices for patient scheduling

  9. Develops and monitors statistical reports on monthly.

  10. Monitors the compliance of staff attendance at mandatory hospital and department in-services and educational seminars

  11. Monitors staff performance for quality care of patient, accurate data collection, and overall performance.

  12. Monitors staff to assure all departmental and hospital policies are followed consistently.

  13. Monitors staff attendance and payroll record

  14. Develops and reviews policies and procedures to assure compliance with regulating bodies and for the efficient operation of Surgical Services

  15. Complete annual appraisals for all direct reports.

Department Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the development and maintains annual departmental budgets and operate within their guidelines.

  2. Completes Monthly productivity statistical reports and operates within the guidelines of the that report

  3. Collaboration with Materials Management for inventory management, best price and contract negotiation

  4. Reviews CDM for accuracy

  5. Daily charge reconciliation – responds to discrepancies in a timely manner.

  6. Monitors coding for complex procedure

  7. Must be astute in identifying employee problems and be able to implement appropriate actions to be taken to address these conditions

  8. Must maintain basic knowledge and competency for all equipment in Surgical Service.

Education Training and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Business or Nursing

MBA and/or MHA preferred.

5 years of OR Clinical and 2+years of Management

Extensive knowledge and experience in Operating Procedures; Minimum 5 years’ experience in Perioperative care. CNOR

Basic computer skills including Outlook and Microsoft

Licensure/Certification

RN in Pennsylvania

CPR
