Job Title: Electrical Distribution Engineer

Job Description

The individual will be responsible for independently developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems for electric utility customers. This role focuses on system reliability and improvement work, which includes replacing old equipment with new to improve system consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems.

  • Review work provided by the client and assess requirements of the scopes.

  • Conduct field work, including taking photos and measurements of specific sites, poles, or circuits.

  • Create designs using Open Utilities, a Microstation-based CAD system.

  • Perform energy analysis to ensure materials meet the required usage of the site.

  • Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) to be entered into SAP/Material Tracking Software.

  • Assist with obtaining necessary permits for utility lines to cross roads, easements, or private property.

  • Submit the complete electrical construction package for approval and make revisions as needed.

  • Use software such as Poleforman or PLA/Pole Loading Analysis for structural analysis and integrity of poles.

  • Utilize Katapault software for data collection and component tracking in the field.

  • Apply National Electric Safety Codes (NESC) when making designs or selecting materials.

  • Collaborate with the Quality Control approver on any necessary changes before final submission.

  • Maintain frequent communication with the client via email, phone, and Teams.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.

  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia, or Microstation.

  • Familiarity with Open Utilities, a Microstation-based design software.

  • Knowledge of National Electric Safety Codes (NESC).

  • Experience with utility distribution design or engineering.

  • Ability to conduct QA/Quality Assurance or QC/Quality Control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with electric utility companies or consulting firms that support utility work.

  • Ability to help with training new employees and writing process standards.

  • Experience with permitting and regulatory compliance.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00
