Join us as our new Phage Lab Technician
This position works under general supervision and is primarily responsible for providing technical support (such as phage testing) for the sales and marketing team and/or customers. It will be involved with all laboratory support functions for the Phage Lab.
In this role you'll make an impact by:
Participating in laboratory testing as directed by senior lab staff and the Phage Lab Manager.
Participating and maintaining ampoule inventory for the culture host collection used for testing.
Maintaining and organizing data, including entry of data into Phage registry, documentation of lab reports, lab requisitions and files in the applicable databases. Follows-up with appropriate personnel when necessary.
Performing testing per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Phage Laboratory and enters results into applicable database for the generation of reports.
Performing general lab housekeeping.
Maintaining good laboratory practices and laboratory rooms according to standard operating procedures.
Keeping lab supplies and materials well stocked and places orders when necessary.
Maintaining laboratory equipment through routine maintenance and documentation.
Participating regularly in staff and other group meetings.
Performing all other duties as assigned. Reports to work on time and works overtime as required.
Keeping a log of all samples that are received into the Phage Laboratory.
To succeed you must hold:
Ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of this position.
Employee will be required to perform tests using a variety of laboratory equipment.
A highly professional manner relating to conduct, appearance and attitude must be maintained.
Ability to participate in projects.
Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and work flows.
Ability to participate in a team-driven environment, but able to work independently.
Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs. SAP experience is a plus.
These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelors degree in a related field, such as Microbiolgy or Food Science, and prefer a minimum of one year experience.
