DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will be responsible for operating specialized equipment and vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or greater. When not engaged in equipment operation, you will undertake manual labor tasks. Your responsibilities will include active involvement in the maintenance of equipment, as well as performing various related tasks that may require both unskilled and skilled labor. Duties will be assigned with general guidance on a project basis, allowing employees to operate the equipment independently without the need for further instructions or assistance.
You will play a crucial role in fire prevention, pre-suppression, and suppression efforts. Your responsibilities will encompass operating a fire tower as needed. Additionally, you will contribute to various phases of controlled burns and prescribed fire operations aimed at reducing fuel loads and managing forest and wildlife resources. Experience in wildland fire suppression is beneficial, and candidates with such background are strongly encouraged to submit their applications. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position may require overtime and travel. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A; or Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more: or Any equivalent combination of experience or training. Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license. Condition or Employment: This position requires possession of a valid Class A Commercial driver's license (CDL). Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
