Responsibilities

The Physicist is a leading member of the radiotherapy team responsible for ensuring the safety of patients, medical staff, and the general public and improving quality of care to ensure accurate imaging and treatment of disease. These outcomes are achieved through numerous and varied activities, including administrative, clinical, educational, informatics, equipment performance evaluation (EPE), quality, and safety. Medical physicists are uniquely trained to contribute scientific advice and resources to solve technical and clinical problems relating to radiotherapy as well as to introduce new therapeutic procedures and tests using existing or new technologies. The Physicist collaborates with other Radiation Oncology team members.

Job Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $ 229,430 - $283,403 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

Qualifications

Education

Required: Master's or doctoral degree in physics, medical physics, biophysics, radiological physics, medical

health physics, or equivalent disciplines from an accredited graduate program

Preferred: Master's or doctoral degree in medical physics, radiological physics, or equivalent disciplines from a

CAMPEP accredited graduate program.

Completion of a residency in medical physics, radiological physics or equivalent disciplines from a CAMPEP

accredited residency program

Experience

Required: 3 years postgraduate

Experience in EBRT: 2D/3D/4D, IMRT/VMAT; SBRT; motion management (e.g., breath hold, SGRT), CT

simulation, Image registration

Experience with Varian technology including:

• TrueBeam radiotherapy system,

• Treatment planning system (Eclipse)

• Oncology information system (ARIA)

• Surface guidance (Vision RT/OSMS)

Experience in quality management, process improvement, and incident learning

Preferred: 5 years postgraduate professional experience

In addition to A., Experience in SRS, SRT

Experience with Varian technology including:

• Edge radiotherapy system

• Real-time motion management (gating via SGRT, RPM, triggered imaging)

• Mobius and Dose Lab QA systems

• Portal Dosimetry

Experience with third party systems including:

• Sun Nuclear QA systems including DQA3, Profiler, ArcCheck, 1D tank

• Radformation QA systems

• IBA 3D scanning system

Experience with GE CT simulation

Experience in change management, safety culture

Familiarity with Texas Radiation Control Regulations

License(s)

Required:

• Active Full Medical Physicist (FMP) license in therapeutic radiological physics per the Texas

Occupations Code §602

• Active certification by:

o The American Board of Radiology; or

o The American Board of Medical Physics; or

o The Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine
