Leprino Foods Quality Supervisor in Waverly, New York
Within our Waverly, NY, manufacturing facility, we are seeking aQuality Supervisoron the plants technical leadership team to continue moving our organization to even larger levels of food quality, reliability, production efficiencies, and safety. You will play a crucial role in creating a healthy work environment for our employees, thereby fostering positive working relationships and teamwork. You will report directly to the Plant Quality Manager and work closely with other department managers and Senior Leadership.
At Leprino, starting compensation for this role typically ranges between $77,000 and $92,000. This position has an annual target bonus of 10%.
Leadership & Training
Manage daily quality testing and monthly cross-checks for consistency.
Lead, manage and develop a team of hourly employees.
Monitor and evaluate lab employees' responsibilities, ensuring competence.
Maintain training materials and schedules, support GMPs and safety policies.
Conduct employee evaluations and maintain lab certification.
Maintain PA certified laboratory status & ensure all documentation meets the regulatory compliance
Plant Quality Initiatives
Champions the plant Quality Compliance initiatives and operates as the local subject matter expert in applicable food safety and quality policies, programs, and systems.
Builds and fosters strong working relationships, collaboration within their team and a positive work environment.
Demonstrate continuous improvement for teamwork and distinguished customer service. Strive for excellence to promote Leprino Quality across all departments.
Manage the Sweet Whey Powder Review, Hold and Release program with efficiency and attention to detail. Work closely with plant materials management and Corporate product management on product availability, out of spec conditions, customer concerns, etc.
Perform regular reviews of test results and address trends.
Regulatory and Customer Compliance
Maintain, calibrate and PM lab testing equipment
Manage Monthly Component Summary and Antibiotic Testing Reports for incoming milk
Participate in the Corporate Collaborative Testing program for chemical and micro testing.
Monitor test results to prevent wrong or incomplete testing data from being submitted
Notify Quality Manager in a timely manner regarding out-of-compliance issues
Coordinate departmental equipment maintenance
Respond to testing needs of production in a timely manner
Satisfy the requirements of various regulatory agencies
Problem Solving
Investigate suspect test results, deviations, and troubleshoot equipment failures.
Assist in responding to customer complaints promptly by locating and reviewing the required data as requested by the QE manager
Safety
Promote a safe work environment, support safety goals, and provide PPE.
Address employee safety concerns and contribute to safety training efforts.
Budget Planning
Manage and control costs in alignment with production days, maintain sufficient supply inventories, and provide assistance in budget preparation as required.
You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):
A Bachelors degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemical Engineering, OR equivalent work experience.
Two (2) years progressive leadership and management experience in quality or production in the food industry, or other related field requiring regulatory compliance.
The ability to perform shift work in a 24/7 operational plant (the milk never stops coming).
We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (SQF, BRC, ISO, etc.)
Extensive knowledge of quality methods and techniques including the HACCP concept of food safety, quality assurance standards, food laboratory testing methods and operations, and statistical process control techniques.
Familiarity with SAP, or similar integrated manufacturing system
Dairy/Cheese manufacturing experience
