As a machine operator at Norlen, a Ryerson family of companies, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating machinery in the machining department. Roles and Responsibilities Is trained in the operation of equipment and the precision measuring tools necessary for the inspection of parts produced by each operation Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements; sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale or rule Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, fixtures, and cutting tools to be used Has the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications All other duties as assigned may change at any time with or without notice Requirements Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills Has a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation or preference, and pregnancy), age, national origin, religion, disability or genetic information, marital status, status as a veteran, or any other federal, state or local protected class or artificial barrier. ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: ipc.us/t/669FF647B1774C80
