Generac Power Systems Director Product Regulatory Affairs in Waukesha, Wisconsin

The Director Product Regulatory Affairs develops, leads, and sustains Generac’s product Regulatory and certification teams. Develops and drives our product regulatory strategy and compliance across multiple product lines, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel – Corporate Governance & Compliance. Collaborates with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders to provide and develop best practices and policies as well as guides the business on matters of product regulation and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and drive a product regulatory strategy in line with business requirements to ensure compliance with applicable code, standards, and regulations.

• Provide regulatory and compliance guidance to business units and functions to support business objectives.

• Lead the product certification function and work with certification agencies to develop and sell products in coordination with business objectives and timelines.

• Oversee compliance with various local, state, national, and international materials standards and disclosure responsibilities. Coordinate with internal functions to complete related initiatives.

• Analyze and communicate proposed, new, or changing requirements, and lead teams to develop strategies to implement them. Advocate with code-making bodies, standards organizations and government agencies to advance the Company’s interests and perspectives in a variety of contexts.

• Design and direct the work of the functional area. Manage and motivate organizational talent through performance objectives, feedback and coaching, succession planning, and development.

• Prepare and/or recommend operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

• Develop and deliver product compliance training programs to raise awareness and understanding within the organization

Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree

• 10 years of progressive experience in product regulatory or certification roles

• 5 years of management experience

Preferred Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental or safety engineering

• Strong understanding of international product certification standards (e.g., UL, CSA, ANSI, and CE) and regulatory requirements (e.g., TSCA, RoHs, REACH, Cal. Prop 65) in a global manufacturing environment.

• Experience leading compliance initiatives across multiple geographies and markets.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable strategies.

• Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.

• Knowledge of quality and manufacturing systems and the connection to regulatory or compliance requirements.

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively without authority.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

• MS proficiency.

• Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
