Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Physician Specialist, Option C for the Kiley Developmental Center to serve as an Illinois licensed Physician, providing a full range of direct psychiatric services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Performs psychiatric diagnosis, psychiatric treatment planning of individuals who reside at Kiley Developmental Center.

Job Responsibilities

1. Serving as an Illinois licensed Physician, provides a full range of direct psychiatric services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
2. Provides clinical information and guidance to other treatment team members.
3. Performs and writes psychiatric evaluations and writes progress notes, maintains files.
4. Serves as an active and contributing member on assigned Center committees, staff meetings, teaching conferences and clinical committees.
5. Provides clinical information and guidance to other clinicians. Provides in-service training to assigned clinicians.
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires a valid State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License.
2. Requires completion of an approved residency in the position of psychiatry.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two (2) years of professional experience evaluating the quality of specialized medical care and treatment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
2. Two (2) years of professional experience coordinating medical services with other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.
3. Two (2) years of professional experience conducting psychiatric exams of individuals.
4. Two (2) years of professional experience identifying most appropriate positive treatment regime and carrying out that treatment in accordance with best practices.
5. Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Two (2) years of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the possession of a valid Illinois Controlled Substance License.
2. Requires the possession of a valid United States Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate of Registration.
3. Requires the ability to serve on-call.
4. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
5. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
6. Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
7. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
8. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
9. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
