This position is eligible for a $10,000 (minus tax) sign on bonus that is paid out incrementally.
Summary:
The Team Leader directs and/or assigns the activities of nursing and ancillary personnel on the unit while maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in order to provide optimal patient care outcomes. Team Leaders are actively involved in managing census flow of patients, developing patient assignments, disseminating information to/from Director, ensuring unit/shift duties are assigned and completed.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and direct unit’s workflow with census needs, bed assignments and staff breaks. Exercise independent judgment with consideration of patient’s needs, safety and quality objectives, patient acuity and experience mix. 2. Exercise independent judgment in providing leadership through planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating nursing care of assigned patients, with accountability if such care is not rendered correctly. Provides guidance and acts as clinical resource/mentor as needed. 3. Administer direct care to patients if needed in accordance with hospital policy and procedures including but not limited to documentation of nursing interventions, patient response, effectiveness and/or complications. 4. Communicates information to peers and physicians appropriately and provides concise reports to the unit staff and Directors/Administrator Coordinator. 5. Promote a professional atmosphere on the unit through interactions with all members of the healthcare team. Collaborates with other disciplines. Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, families and visitors while assuring confidentiality of patient information. 6. Demonstrate the ability to adapt and adjust to changes in unit activity (census fluctuation, change in patient acuity) and/or hospital activity (floating to another unit, rotation off shifts). 7. Assist Unit Director with administration duties including but not limited to contributing to staff evaluations, disciplinary interventions, scheduling, etc.. 8. Assist other partnerships when available and maintains a safe and clean working environment. 9. Contribute to the Performance Improvement of the unit and Patient Care Services Department by performing data collection, monitoring activities and incident investigation when needed. Willingly and actively participate on assigned committee, team or project. 10. Exercise independent judgment in recommending transfers or discipline of subordinate staff, as necessary. 11. Assess personal learning and skill development needs and seeks educational opportunities. Attends educationals. Reads and initials written communications. Attends all staff meetings and participation of committees. 12. Is supportive of department and hospital’s goals and objectives. 13. Comply with Inland Hospital Hand Hygiene Standards. 14. Adhere to Inland Hospital Standards of Behavior. 15. All other duties as assigned.
