Manulife Software Asset Management Analyst in Waterloo, Ontario

Collaborating with the Manager, IT Asset Management; the Software Asset Management Analyst is dedicated to managing all infrastructure, end user, data center, and cloud-based software assets globally. This role will focus on the end-to-end lifecycle management, inventory management, deployment, usage and compliance of software assets.

You will be an integral part of the IT Asset and Configuration Management Team. The analyst will ensure that critical software asset details are accurately discovered and populated in the Asset Management Database (AMDB), effectively tracked, re-harvested, and all licensing terms and conditions are followed across all environments and platforms including end user, data center and cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, monitoring, recording, and tracking software assets to ensure compliance with available software standards, usage and license metrics, installation and deployment protocols, EULA’s

  • Driving global software compliance by generating accurate software license positions and managing a global software library

  • Overseeing all software assets through each stage of the lifecycle to ensure new software requests are promptly fulfilled based on availability, and software offboarding is reclaimed and re-harvested

  • Tracking software globally in end-user and hosted environments (Private and public cloud, and data center) including monitoring and managing vendor portals

  • Initiating investigations and reviews of software assets to uncover non-compliance, policy and process breaches, reduce risk, and remediate issues

  • Resolve issues, discrepancies, and anomalies associated to discovery, reporting, and tools

  • Generating monthly, effective license position (ELP), Cloud, and SaaS allocation reports itemizing costs by business unit

  • Using industry standard ITAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM/HAM, ServiceNow CMDB, USU Aspera and other tools

  • Control software costs through optimization and rationalization, manage and support compliance, cyber security threats, and technical debt (end of life/end of support/version control)

Skills and requirements:

  • Minimum (3+) years of experience with IT software asset management, software licensing, software sales, software auditing firms, hardware asset management, procurement, or software purchasing

  • Solid understanding of software asset life cycle management processes including planning, acquisition, deployment, monitoring, decommission, and disposal

  • Strong knowledge utilizing and/or implementing asset management tools, including automated discovery configuration tools and processes (ServiceNow, SCCM, etc.)

  • Solid understanding of API’s and integrations that support asset discovery

  • Knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, mainly SAM Pro and Ham Pro

  • Knowledge of sub capacity, PVU, per core. ILMT, and virtual licensing models

  • IT Asset Manager certification (CSAM) and/or (CHAMP) preferred

Must Haves:

  • ITIL Knowledge and software/hardware experience.

  • Experience in software licensing, terms and conditions, software usage rights and effective license position reporting.

  • Software & Hardware Lifecycle Management.

  • Knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM and other enterprise software titles.

  • Experience using industry SAM Tools such as ServiceNow (CMDB, SAM Pro/HAM Pro, ILMT, Flexera, Aspera, SNOW, BMC, HP, Manage Engine).

Salary range is expected to be between

$70,350.00 CAD - $117,250.00 CAD
