Manulife Manager, Regulatory & AML Compliance in Waterloo, Ontario

The Manager, Regulatory & AML Compliance is responsible for overseeing and ensuring that the organization adheres to all relevant regulatory requirements and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies. As a member of the Strategy, Governance and Controls team, this role will develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs and operations to mitigate risk and enhance the organization's integrity and reputation.

Position Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance

  • Develop and implement regulatory compliance policies and procedures.

  • Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory requirements and ensure the organization remains compliant.

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate compliance risks.

  • Interface with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of required reports and documents.

  • Provide guidance and training to staff on regulatory compliance practices.

AML Compliance

  • Develop and implement AML policies and procedures in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee AML risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are in place to mitigate identified risks.

  • Conduct investigations into suspicious activities and transactions and report findings to relevant authorities.

  • Maintain and update the AML compliance program, ensuring it addresses current regulatory trends and risks.

  • Coordinate and participate in AML training programs for staff across the organization.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks related to regulatory and AML compliance.

  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and ensure their implementation across the organization.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of compliance programs and procedures and recommend improvements.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management and compliance.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all compliance activities and decisions.

  • Prepare and present regular compliance reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure all reporting requirements related to regulatory and AML compliance are met in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field.

  • Professional certification in compliance (e.g., CAMS, CRCM) is highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory and AML compliance roles, preferably within the financial services sector.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and AML laws and regulations.

  • Proven ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to business operations.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and achieving goals.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficiency in compliance management software and tools.

Salary range is expected to be between

$84,375.00 CAD - $151,875.00 CAD
