Overview
The position is responsible for quality assurance, management and upkeep of internal data systems on the VDH Surveillance Epidemiology Team and data analysis on a variety of topics including healthy aging. Duties include selection of statistical and epidemiological methodology and the scientific assessment of data. The position requires the knowledge of statistical software, survey research, analysis of data including complex epidemiological analyses, assessment of data quality, data management, writing reports, and data dissemination.
This position is expected to assist with the timely implementation, data collection and data quality assurance for population-based surveillance systems such as the Vermont Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), and School Health Profiles. The position will assist with public inquiries, data requests, assessment of data quality and report processing, data analysis, data visualization, data reporting, presentations, and questionnaire design. The position will also be responsible conducting data analysis on prevalence, risk factors, and preventative measures on other topics such as chronic disease and healthy aging. The position also performs related duties as required.
The position operates under the Research, Epidemiology and Evaluation Unit Chief and the Epidemiology and Surveillance Team Lead. All analysts are expected to work on multiple teams, including the Unit, the Surveillance Epi team, and special topic workgroups. Expertise in Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software (SAS, SPSS, R, etc.) is needed.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Meetings with data users and providers may require some travel, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.
