SharePoint Administrator

Location: Washington, DC (3 days onsite/2 days remote)

Clearance: Active DOD Top Secret Clearance preferred

Status: Exempt

Salary: $110-120K

About This Role

We are seeking a skilled Application Administrator to manage and support our backend SharePoint environment and handle systems administration responsibilities within our Windows and Linux application hosting environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in SharePoint administration, proficiency in Windows systems, and a strong ability to ensure the performance, stability, and security of our application hosting infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Backend SharePoint Support:

  • Administration & Maintenance:

  • Administer and maintain SharePoint Server or SharePoint Online environments, ensuring they run efficiently and securely.

  • Apply updates, patches, and configuration changes as needed to maintain optimal performance.

  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Monitor SharePoint performance, including database performance, and perform optimizations as necessary.

  • Ensure data integrity through effective backup and recovery solutions.

    Systems Administration:

  • Windows Systems Management:

  • Manage and maintain Windows servers used for application hosting, including installation, configuration, and regular updates.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Windows environments to ensure high availability and performance.

  • Application Hosting:

  • Deploy and manage applications with SCCM/MECM on Windows servers, ensuring they are properly configured and optimized.

  • Monitor application performance and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and reliability.

  • Integration & Automation:

  • Integrate applications with existing systems and infrastructure to ensure seamless operation.

  • Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.

    General Responsibilities:

  • Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

  • Document and track changes to SharePoint configurations and server environments.

  • Security & Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce security policies and practices to protect data and systems.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.

  • Collaboration & Support:

  • Collaborate with IT teams, developers, and business units to resolve issues and deliver solutions.

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users as required.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5 years or more System Administration experience

  • Proficiency in managing SharePoint environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance of SharePoint farms and servers

  • Demonstrated experience with Windows server administration and application hosting.

  • Experience deploying applications with SCCM/MECM.

  • Experience with system integration and automation is highly desirable.

  • Hands-on experience in applying third party licenses to Farm

  • Hands-on experience monitoring the server health and overall server infrastructure

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing error logs, correlating error IDs, and implementing corrective actions

  • Implementing and managing backup and recovery strategies to ensure data protection and business continuity

  • Maintaining accurate documentation of configurations, changes, and incidents, as well as generating reports for performance monitoring and auditing purposes.

  • Keeping up-to-date with Microsoft's updates and new features for SharePoint on-premises, as well as best practices in SharePoint administration and management.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of SharePoint architecture, administration, and customization.

  • Understanding of server infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, and IIS (Internet Information Services) configuration, which are foundational to SharePoint deployment

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and system management.

  • Solid understanding of networking, storage, and security principles.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to SharePoint, including performance problems, authentication errors, and configuration issues.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of SQL database for SharePoint backend and coordinating with DBAs to support as required

  • Understanding of SharePoint security models, permissions management, and ensuring compliance with organizational security policies

  • Knowledge of SharePoint APIs and ability to integrate SharePoint with other systems

Certifications:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) (Required within 6 months)

  • Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Administrator (Preferred)

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or similar certification (Preferred)

Clearance:

Must be eligible for Top Secret clearance
