DESCRIPTION OF WORK The individual in this role offers specialized Veterinary knowledge and guidance specifically within the context of harness racing tracks, focusing on regulatory medicine. As part of their daily duties, the Commission Veterinarian is responsible for making informed decisions that encompass a broad spectrum of tasks. These include, but are not restricted to, implementing the rules and regulations set forth by the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission, addressing various regulatory issues that may arise, assessing the overall health and condition of horses before, during, and after races, and managing medical cases involving injuries or illnesses.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Part-time (per diem) employment. Standby position and works on an as-needed basis. Work schedule is vendor controlled and is determined by the racing schedule. Salary:This position is per diem; the daily rate of pay is $400.00. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Graduation from a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Medical Doctor program. Special Requirement: Possession of a valid license to practice veterinary medicine as issued by a State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. Post Employment Requirement: If the employee is not licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Pennsylvania, he/she must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within twelve (12) months of being hired.
