Responsibilities You will receive and screen visitors and phone calls, answer most questions, and complete most business involving established policy or routine matters without referring people to the supervisor. You will maintain communications with the supervisor who directs an organization that has subordinate levels. You will serve as a confidential secretary, using discretion, tact, and diplomacy to protect the interests of the supervisor. You will resolve unusual problems and change office administrative policy to comply with higher levels. You will devise new office practices as received from DoD, Navy, or NAVSEA lead offices. You will exercise exclusive control over the supervisor's daily calendar, establish priorities, schedule meetings and appointments, and accept or declines invitations. You will prepare travel itinerary, agendas, plans, orders, and vouchers. You will handle office emergencies and resolve difficult administrative situations. You will research administrative questions or address substantive issues that involve established policy or decisions without referring each issue to the supervisor. You will maintain a file of correspondence and events for which the supervisor should know. You will screen all correspondence prepared for the supervisor's signature for clarity, completeness of reply, and grammatical/procedural correctness. You will be responsible for records and file management, mail program, and office requisitions. You will transmit and receive electronic documents and messages using automated equipment which are often linked or networked to other systems/computers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NK-02 (GS-07 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing clerical or administrative support functions (e.g. scheduling meetings and appointments, calendar management, correspondence preparation, travel arrangements, data tracking and reporting, storing and retrieving electronic documents, and screening visitors or phone calls) in accordance with established protocols or procedures to ensure management of daily office priorities. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the DHA for AcqDemo Business & Technical Management direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NK-03 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-08/09/10 grade levels. This position has a control point; thus, the salary range may be capped at GS-09, Step 10, which is equivalent to $88,926. If you're current salary is above this amount, your salary may be matched. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
