Job Title: Extrusion Operator
Job Description
The Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of PP extruders, co-extruders, hoppers, loaders, downstream, and other related equipment involved in the production of PVC products. This position requires collaboration with all levels of management and positive professional contact with external clients. The role includes packaging finished products and inspecting them to ensure they meet our highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
Produce PP products that meet or exceed all quality standards for both physical and color tests while performing quality tests at a minimum of every two hours.
Limit the production of out-of-spec material by following all production procedures.
Develop a routine with the extrusion lines to ensure continuous production with limited downtime.
Follow all shutdown and startup procedures to protect all equipment from damage.
Cooperate with other operators to provide continuous coverage for all extrusion lines during breaks, jam-ups, etc.
Assist line packers and material handlers during breaks, jam-ups, and other high-demand times.
Limit downtime with efficient line recovery in case of jam-ups, power outages, etc.
Clean and handle dies, nozzles, tooling, etc., in a professional manner to limit damage.
Must be able to continuously see and make fine discriminations in sound.
Essential Skills
1 to 2 years of experience in Plastic Extrusion.
1+ years of experience in Plastics Manufacturing.
Experience in general labor, plastic injection, plastics extrusion, blow molding, machine operation, production, packing, and plastic injection molding machine.
Proficient operation of extruders and downstream equipment used to produce PP products.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Organizational and time management skills.
Basic math ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and understanding of conceptual math (geometry, charts, graphs).

Ability to use machine manuals to research warning lights, gauges, and operations.

Work Environment
Open office environment with moderate to loud noise. Standard automotive plant environment with required PPE such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and hearing protection. Personal attire standards may apply. Ability to walk or stand for extensive periods, bend, squat, reach above shoulder level, and use hands and fingers to handle and feel. Ability to sit for lengths of time, drive, and perform repetitive simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling frequently. Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime with short notice. May occasionally be required to lift/carry up to 60 pounds. Day Shift: 7am – 6pm M-F, Night Shift: 6pm – 7am M-T. The training period can take anywhere from 30 – 90 days.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, Indiana.

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00
