Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Shredding Specialist to support Kadiak and our government customer in the Metro DC area. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

Kadiak LLC, a subsidiary of Koniag Government Services, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shredding Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the secure and proper destruction of confidential and sensitive documents, in accordance with established protocols and regulations. The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a strong commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and security of information.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

The Shredding Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Collect and gather confidential and sensitive documents, records, and materials designated for destruction from various departments and locations.

  • Operate industrial-grade shredding machines and equipment to securely and thoroughly destroy documents, ensuring the complete destruction of all sensitive information.

  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of shredding by conducting quality checks and ensuring that no confidential information remains intact.

  • Maintain accurate records and logs of shredding activities, including the types and quantities of materials destroyed, dates, and locations.

  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations governing the secure destruction of confidential and sensitive materials.

  • Ensure the proper handling, storage, and transportation of materials designated for shredding, preventing unauthorized access or leakage of sensitive information.

  • Collaborate with records management personnel, department heads, and other stakeholders to coordinate and schedule shredding activities as needed.

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of shredding equipment, ensuring optimal performance and addressing any issues or malfunctions promptly.

  • Assist with other related tasks, such as sorting, organizing, and preparing materials for shredding, as required.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Previous experience in a role involving document handling, records management, or secure destruction is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to operate industrial-grade shredding machines and equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to ensuring the complete destruction of confidential and sensitive information.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to follow established procedures and protocols accurately.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Ability to lift and carry boxes or containers of documents and materials.

  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with records management practices and regulations related to document destruction.

  • Familiarity with data privacy and security standards.

  • Knowledge of proper waste disposal and recycling procedures for shredded materials.

  • Basic computer skills for maintaining records and logs.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address equipment malfunctions or other issues that may arise.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
