ManTech Senior Navy Design Engineer in Washington, District Of Columbia

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Navy Design Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC .

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work will involve review and analysis of Unmanned Surface or Underwater (UxV) designs, addressing technical issues that arise during design and construction, and in the development of the future UxV requirements and acquisition documents.

  • Provide engineering support as requested by the-customer to support technical and project decisions and maintain technical configuration control.

  • Perform engineering analyses of customer mission and performance requirements to define UxV attributes in engineering terms.

  • Perform engineering studies leading to the allocation of UxV attributes to UxV systems in terms of design direction, performance, configuration, space and weight, and arrangement. Perform design and engineering studies to identify the degree of UxV systems integration required to meet the mission requirements.

  • Provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) of designs in the form of technical products such as drawings, conceptual and product engineering designs, calculations, schematics, reports, etc.

  • Provide technical assistance with UxV design, and integration, related to subject areas including machinery, hull form, hull strength, propulsion, electrical systems, auxiliary systems, hydrodynamics, sea keeping and survivability, stability, structures, arrangements, habitability, outfitting, lifesaving and mooring systems, cargo handling systems, unmanned systems, aviation, C4I, combat systems, autonomy, computer science, electronics and other technical areas as necessary.

  • Review and analysis as requested of the developing design to ensure that the UxV is functionally balanced and integrated in terms of distribution and location of functions, seaworthiness, mission suitability (effectiveness, survivability), and performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years professional experience in mechanical, structural, or electrical/electronic design.

  • Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years professional experience in mechanical, structural, or electrical/electronic design for Navy shipbuilding and defense systems

  • Familiarity with DoD/DON acquisition policies and procedures (DoD 5000 process)

Clearance Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Interim Top-Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret
