Amergis RN Obstetrics - OBGYN - Night / Day in Washington, District Of Columbia
Duties:
Postpartum RN Requests - mother baby experience required
Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
Fulfills the needs of the patients, families and community by performing a variety of patient care functions and tasks in accordance with current licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. Patients include vaginal delivery, C-section, GYN surgery.
Skills:
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, BLS Required
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state/district - Required
• Minimum 2 years experience preferred
mother baby experience required
Education:
• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program – Required
• BSN - Highly desired
The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility andaccountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery ofpatient care for obstetric patients. TheRN demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective andefficient manner with supervision. TheRN demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordinationof patient care. The RN consistentlyperforms according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patientcare and assisting others in the management of patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient care
Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient’s condition
Collects, analyzes and interprets data and information fromhealth care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses
Performs admitting assessments, reviews history and developsplan of care
Initiates fetal heart monitor, performs vaginal exams,interprets fetal heart tones and determines frequency duration and intensity ofcontractions
Monitors progress of laboring mothers, interprets fetalheart monitor and notifies physician when appropriate for progress or problems
Plans for expected outcomes of care for those patientsassigned
Performs interventions according to identified priorities,plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard
Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patientenvironment
Compares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifiesdeviation from the plan of care
Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meetpatient care needs and assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities
Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment andequipment
Communicates pertinent information about patient, nursingunit, and activities as appropriate
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse license within the state ofpractice.
Minimum one year obstetrics experience preferred.
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
