Summary This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, Capital Markets and Accounting Policy Branch, Accounting Policy and Exam Support Branch, Accounting Policy Section (APS) in the Headquarters Office in Washington, DC of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and is responsible for technical and administrative tasks, in addition to assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of a diverse range of tasks, projects, and programs in support of the APS. Responsibilities At the full performance level, major duties include: Reviews and assesses data in records, logs, files, and documents related to registered institutions’ securities disclosure filings, independent public accounting firm peer reviews, offering circulars, mutual-to-stock conversion applications, and special shareholders’ notices from institutions subject to cease-and-desist orders. Compiles lists of registered institutions and independent public accounting firms having delinquent reports. Contacts such institutions and firms regarding their delinquent reports. Performs budget formulations and justifications of section activities. Monitors budget expenses for conferences and other Accounting Policy Section (APS) activities, assists in the business planning process, and evaluates existing administrative policies and procedures that affect operational efficiencies. Assists with the management of APS’s administrative operations. This includes, but is not limited to, procuring space and lodging, preparing agendas and written notices, and coordinating equipment and other support for APS-initiated conferences, meetings, working groups, and training programs. The administrative support includes contact with and scheduling of speakers, travel planning, and cost analysis. Plans and assists management in the production and administration of FDIC documentation for internal and external publication. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Qualifications Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-11: Applicants may qualify at the CG-11 level by one of the following: 1. Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 9 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing administrative support in researching, compiling, and analyzing information relating to financial industry issues; - OR - 2. Education: Applicants must possess Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related; - OR - 3. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. CG-12: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience providing administrative support related to the financial industry for projects or a workload for an organization, and tracking budget activities or projects to completion with strict deadlines.
