Job Title: Lead Azure Database Administrator

Job Description:
Syneren is currently seeking a Lead Azure Database Administrator.
Responsibilities:
Database Design and Architecture: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of Azure SQL databases or PostgreSQL database on Azure, ensuring they meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of database administrators, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.
Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
Security Management: Ensure the security of Azure SQL databases or PostgreSQL database on Azure by implementing best practices for access control, encryption, and compliance with DoD STIG requirements.
Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, including backup strategies and failover mechanisms. Perform data recovery.
Automation and Scripting: Create and maintain scripts for database automation tasks, such as backups, restores, and performance tuning.
Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of database systems.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
O&M:
Perform database patches installation, data migration and upgrades.
Transition data between different classification domains within IT Enterprise at regular intervals based on operational demand.
Provide reports from existing databases on all applications utilizing the application.
Required Qualifications:
8 years or more experience in database administration (MS SQL or PostgreSQL).
At least 3 years focused on Azure SQL database or Azure Database for PostgreSQL
Secret Clearance
IAT II Certifications IAW DoD (For DoD IAT Level 2, the two required certs are as follows: CompTIA Security+ or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) Other security-related certs that are accepted (in addition to the above two certs) as well for the DoD IAT Level 2 include the following as well: CCNA Security; CySA+; GICSP; GSEC).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of database design, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
Experience with Azure infrastructure, including virtual networks, storage, and security.
Excellent scripting skills in PowerShell, PL/pgSQL, or similar.
Familiarity with monitoring and management tools such as Azure Monitor
Preferable:
Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar certifications are highly desirable.
Experience migrating from MS SQL into PostgreSQL
