Amentum Law Clerk I in Washington, District Of Columbia

Works under the direction of a Lead Project Manager and Law Clerk III/Team Lead performing complex quality assessment of claims with the VCF. The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing internal records and claimant-submitted documentation in order to: ensure that the claims meet the VCF’s statutory requirements for eligibility.

  • Confirm the award decisions are correct and consistent with VCF policies and procedures, confirm the VCF has the necessary information to pay the claim.

  • Verify that there is no evidence of fraud or other concerns that would prevent the communication of claimant awards.

  • Law Clerk I’s must be able to review claims and manage their claim queues independently, while also being able to work on group projects.

  • Responsibilities may include telephone conversations with VCF claimants and their attorneys.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • Must have an undergraduate degree with a paralegal certificate and substantial relevant work experience, or have a law degree (J.D.), or be currently attending an ABA-accredited law school having completed at least one year of study.

  • Must have at least one to two years of progressively more complex work experience, preferably claim or case assessment projects, but other types of litigation support work are also considered.

  • Must have proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with claimants and attorneys. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and database software (such as for document review and/or claims management systems).
