Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable International Travel Immunization and Occupational Health Support Services (VOHSS) Registered Nurse to support Kadiak and our Department of State customer in the DC metro area. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

The successful candidate will provide expert immunization services and health consultations for individuals preparing for international travel. This role involves assessing travel health risks, administering vaccinations, and offering education on preventive measures for various global destination.

Work Hours:

  • Services are to be provided between the hours of M-F 0800-4:30.

  • Remain Flexible to meet agency needs.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ travel health needs

  • Administer and manage travel-related vaccinations and medications for adults and children.

  • Provide expert guidance on health precautions and preventive measures for international travel.

  • Educate patients on potential health risks and safe travel practices.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and vaccination documentation.

  • Stay current with international health regulations and vaccination requirements.

  • Must be able to work independently with guidance from physicians and using standing orders to assess patient overseas travel needs.

  • Nurses use best practice guidelines to administer recommended vaccines, maintain medical records and assist patients in complying with prescribed medical regimens.

  • Plans and provides comprehensive nursing care in accordance with professional nursing standards, and uses recommendations from CDC, WHO, ACIP, and Travax to develop care plans.

  • Provides direction for prescribed medications and protection from environmental challenges.

  • Assist/consult with overseas medical personnel on past immunization status and various healthcare issues.

  • Participates in all required training and competency assessments according to staffing contract and policies and SOP to maintain ability to work in assigned clinic.

  • Performs components of physical exams which may include, but are not limited to, Vital signs, height and weight, Audiometry, Vision testing, ECG, Spirometry, Phlebotomy, and TB skin testing. Documentation of all clinical data on all required forms.

  • Assess employees who may develop emergent conditions while on the job. The nurse provides care following medical guidelines, and may seek physician guidance, take preplanned emergency measures or request 911 assistance.

  • Relocation expenses are not covered

Requirements:

  • Background in international travel immunizations is required and should be reflected in your resume.

  • Strong knowledge of international travel health requirements and immunization protocols.

  • High attention to detail

  • Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia as well as Washington DC.

  • Graduation from a National League of Nursing (NLN) accredited School of Nursing

  • Proficient in phlebotomy

  • Proficient in IM and SQ injections

  • Current BLS/AED recognized by the American Heart Association

  • Experience performing audiometric testing is preferred

  • Occupational Health experience is highly desirable

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the clinical nursing duties (e.g., CPR performance, responding immediately to an emergency, carrying a thirty (30) pound Emergency Go-Bag, etc.) without accommodation as well as free from any communicable disease(s).

  • Must be willing to work at both locations (DC and Arlington VA) as staff will be expected to rotate between these two sites on a quarterly basis.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a US Citizen

  • Applicant must be eligible for Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) background investigation.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
