The Industrial Electrical Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, testing, and installation of industrial electrical equipment. This role requires Journeyman Electrical technicians with a minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial settings, preferably with specific expertise in infrared thermography.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of industrial electrical equipment.

  • Conduct tests and inspections to ensure proper functioning and safety of electrical systems.

  • Utilize infrared thermography for predictive maintenance, identifying potential issues before they lead to equipment failure.

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring compliance with NFPA, NEC, and other relevant standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including reports on inspections, tests, and repairs.

  • Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to resolve complex electrical issues.

  • Perform complete corrective and preventative maintenance, testing and calibration of equipment, systems, associated devices, and controls.

  • Recommend changes to job plans and job tasks to increase productivity and equipment reliability.

  • Perform complete installations of various types of electrical equipment; utilizing basic electrical, and mechanical skills as necessary.

  • Use of tools and test equipment associated with this line of work.

  • Understanding and use of industry standards for testing, repair, maintenance, and calibration; and proficient at interpreting industrial electrical diagrams.

  • Understand and practice all pertinent electrical safety standards such as Lock Out Tag out and Arc Flash.

  • Preparation of accurate written reports of work, test results, calibration reports, and work orders.

  • Experience installing conduit and wiring systems.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma / GED required

  • Certified and experienced DC Journeyman or Master Electrician, or ability to obtain one within 3-6 months.

  • Experience in facilities maintenance/ complex mission critical environments with thorough understanding of electrical systems, controls, generators, and life safety systems.

  • 8+ years of progressive and hands-on experience in an environment of similar proportions and mission as the assigned area of responsibility.

  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and control equipment.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision.

Pay Range:

  • $40-$47

Abilities:

  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.

  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.

  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.

  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.

  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.

  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
